Raeford, NC

Raeford is a city in Hoke County, NC. Almost 5,000 people call this mid-sized city home. Raeford is located along Cape Fear River, 90 miles south of Raleigh-Durham and was once an important inland port on the Cape Fear River. Two large military installations, Fort Liberty, and Pope Air Force Base provide the city’s main economic base. Today, Raeford offers its residents a small-town friendly atmosphere, superior quality of life, proximity to major metropolitan amenities, and a pastoral setting.

The climate is mainly humid subtropical with occasional periods of continental influence. Tropical air brings heat and humidity during most of the summer. Afternoon temperatures frequently reach the 90’s, with frequent afternoon thundershowers. Although the area is sheltered from extreme cold by mountains to the northwest and the warming effects of the Atlantic, temperatures do fall below 20 degrees.
